Performance Features

Two excellent engines are offered under the hood of the 2022 Acura TLX. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder VTEC engine, offering 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. It is peppy and responsive, with great cruising and overtaking capabilities. Running through a 10-speed automatic transmission, this engine can be paired with front-wheel drive or the SH-AWD all-wheel drive system, which provides even better acceleration as well as better handling in poor weather or on poor road surfaces. Front-wheel drive versions get great fuel economy, up to 22 MPG city and 31 MPG highway; all-wheel drive editions get up to 21 MPG city and 29 MPG highway.

If that engine isn’t enough, step up to the available turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, which brings 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque to the road! With acceleration to 60 miles per hour in only 4.9 seconds, a full second faster than the 2.0-liter engine, it certainly gets the pulse racing. Available only with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, it can get up to 19 MPG around town and 24 MPG on the open road.

Style and Technology

Front row seating in the 2022 Acura TLX is quite spacious, with standard synthetic leather throughout the cabin. The rear seats are fine for kids and teens, offering 36.3 inches of headroom and 34.9 inches of legroom, although this may be a bit tight for larger adults on longer trips. The front seats are heated and power-adjustable on all versions, while higher trim levels include ventilation for the front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated rear seats.

Drivers will certainly appreciate the cockpit-like design of the TLX, and the interior is clad in premium materials including soft-touch plastics, wood, padded leather, and aluminum. Dual-zone automatic climate control allows the driver and passenger to control their comfort level. Drivers will appreciate the convenience of the standard keyless entry and push-button start – available remote start lets you get your TLX warmed up while you’re still cozy inside in the winter time!

At the center of the infotainment and technology is the standard 10.2-inch True Touchpad infotainment display, featuring crystal clear graphics and excellent input response. Smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ is standard, as is Bluetooth streaming audio and voice control. Dual USB ports and a 10-speaker stereo system with HD and satellite radio are standard – the audio system can be upgraded to a 13- or 17-speaker premium system, while you can add navigation, two more USB ports, and wireless device charging to the technology package.

Safety

Featuring the AcuraWatch safety suite, the 2022 Acura TLX provides lots of driver assistance and pedestrian avoidance technology. Forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high-beam headlights, traffic jam assist, and automatic emergency braking are all included in this suite, while a rearview camera is also standard for easy backing up. Higher trim levels add in advanced safety features including rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, a head-up display, and a surround-view camera.

Trim Levels

Five separate trim levels are available on the 2022 TLX. Given this is the first model year after a new generation was introduced, there haven’t been any significant changes. Trim levels range from basic to highly sporty.

Simply called the Base level, the entry-level TLX model features standard sports seats with power adjustability, and the front seats feature heating for the winter months. Ambient LED cabin lighting and brushed interior aluminum trim offers a touch of luxury. A moonroof is standard, and helps to open up the cabin. The 10-speaker Acura Premium Audio System with 10 speakers is featured, and includes SiriusXM satellite radio. 18-inch silver aluminum-alloy multi-spoke wheels are standard.

Technology trim steps up the style, with perforated Milano premium leather-trimmed interior with contrast stitching and Iconic Drive Ambient LED Cabin Lighting that offers 27 unique themes. GPS-Linked Climate Control improves the climate control experience, better accounting for humidity and outside heat. 19-inch sparkle silver aluminum-alloy multi-spoke wheels are featured. Sandwiched between the base and the 3D system, the standard ELS Studio audio system on the Tech trim comes with 13 speakers.

Moving to the A-Spec trim, a sport appearance package with gloss black decklid spoiler dresses up the exterior, while LED fog lights are provided for better visibility. The sports seats get additional Ultrasuede trimming, and are now heated and ventilated. A leather-wrapped sport flat-bottom steering wheel livens up the interior and offers better driving control, while geometric-patterned brushed aluminum trim and an ebony headliner provide luxury touches. The ELS Studio 3D Premium Audio System comes with 17 speakers, and wireless charging is also standard.

Stepping up to the Advance trim combines many of the features of the A-Spec trim with the Technology trim, but with a focus on luxury instead of sport. LED puddle lights provide safety and visibility when you’re getting in and out of the vehicle in the dark. Driver and passenger are upgraded to heated and ventilated 16-way power seats with power lumbar support, thigh extension, and side bolsters. Rear outboard seats are heated, as is the leather-wrapped steering wheel. Unique open-pore wood trim gives the interior an upscale feel. The Surround View Camera System is standard, for excellent visibility. The Adaptive Damper System smooths the ride, allowing it to shift from cruising to confident sport handling in a moment’s notice.

Featuring the bigger 3.0-liter engine, the Type S trim provides a high level of performance, with similar comforts to the A-Spec trim. Like the Advance trim, it comes with the Adaptive Damper System, but on top of that it gets extra chassis bracing. Outside, 20-inch Shark Gray multi-spoke wheels provide a better contact patch. The sport look comes from taking the A-Spec and turning it up to 11 – an open surface diamond pentagon grille and gloss black front splitter and rear diffuser set the Type S apart visually. Inside, while the upholstery and trim are the same as the A-Spec, the comforts include the upgraded front seats of the Advance package. However, instead of the heated steering wheel, the Type S features the leather-wrapped sport flat-bottom version.

At the top of the line-up is the Type S with Performance Wheel and Tire package. Sporting 20-inch lightweight Shark Gray aluminum-alloy wheels, Pirelli P-Zero Summer tires are standard to provide optimum control. Aside from this, the trim is the same as the standard Type S trim.
